The Importance of the North Star in the Underground Railroad

The North Star was viewed as a guide for anyone involved in the Underground Railroad. It symbolized freedom, and slaves could keep their eyes on it for motivation to make it to Canada. As long as the North Star was in sight, freedom was in sight. Involving anatomy into this process was an incredible contribution to the Underground Railroad because it provided stability in a sense. The North Star has and will always be found in the North. This allowed the slaves to cling to this one aspect that of their journey that was predictable and would never let anyone down.
